The Partners: Gordon Bryant & Ken Thomas
Gordon is the grandson of the firm’s founder Frederick Charles Bryant and the son of the late John Beresford Bryant who was for many years, senior partner of the firm. He graduated from the University of Sydney and was admitted as a solicitor in the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the High Court of Australia in 1980. Gordon quickly became a partner in 1983.
Gordon’s legal career began as a part-time registration clerk in the firm while at law school. He continues the traditions set in place 90 years ago. He has maintained his practice at Rockdale, acting for numerous clients Sydney-wide, ranging from individuals to Corporations.
He is actively engaged in the Autistic Association and the Giant steps School for Autism. Gordon’s expertise includes conveyancing, general and commercial litigation, family law and disputed deceased estates.
Gordon acts for numerous long term clients who have maintained their contact with him over 20 and sometimes more than 30 years. Many clients are second or even third generation clients with the firm. Gordon believes that the consistency and stability offered by the firm is a big factor in maintaining those relationships as well as being accessible and responsive to the client’s needs.

Ken first joined the firm as Partner in 1999, whereby we now have our firm name “F.C. Bryant Thomas & Co”. After graduating from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Economics, he was admitted as a Solicitor in the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the High Court of Australia in 1980.
As a local in the St George area, Ken first practised in Beverly Hills and then opened his practice as a sole practitioner in Penshurst where he remained for 15 years. During this time the practice assisted in the areas of commercial law, accident compensation, leases, corporate and deceased estates. His training in accounting, economics and business management over many years adds to the pool of sound experience offered by our law firm.
In more recent years, his practice has developed into preparation of civil disputes and deceased estates claims in the Supreme Court of New South Wales and in the Equity Division of the Courts.
Ken combined his legal skills with his passion for sailing. He was engaged as a consultant solicitor to the NSW Maritime service in 2008. Ken has been involved with the sailing community over many years and has developed skills including a Yacht Master Qualification. He has participated in off-shore racing including the Sydney-Hobart Yacht Race and vessel delivery along the East-Coast of Australia.
